Prince Harry, Meghan Markle end 3 day visit to Nigeria

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry and his American actress wife Megan have ended their 3 day visit to Nigeria. The scheduled 3-day visit which was meant primarily to promote the Invictus games, a game tournament held for injured military officers saw the British royalty touring Nigeria.
The Prince visited Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos and in each of these places he visited the injured and wounded servicemen of the Nigerian military. He was duly received by the Chief of Defense staff,General Christopher Musa, Minister of defense, Abubakar Badaru, and the Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwoolu in each of these places.
The Duchess, Meghan Markle also attended a Women in Leadership event with Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization.
Since it’s establishment in 2014, the games have seen participation from injured military veterans from different countries in the world. Africa was first represented in the 2023 edition when Nigeria was invited.
The games was established to serve as a psychological or moral boost for the servicemen. According to the Prince, “The power of sports can change lives, it brings people together and creates community and there are no barriers which is the most important thing.”
Since it’s inception in 2014, the Invictus games has been held six times with the next edition set to hold in 2025.
