Djokovic loses to Tabilo, Crashes out of Italian Open after water bottle incident

By James Hughes

World Number 1, Novak Djokovic has lost to world number 32, Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in a disappointing 2-6, 3-6 in Rome on Sunday. The shock defeat happened in under 67 minutes with the underdog Tabilo moving on to the next round.Djokovic had earlier been reported to have been accidentally struck by a water bottle as he signed autographs following his second-round win over Corentin Moutet on Friday.

The thirty six year old who happens to have won the Italian Open six times will see an early exit from the competition as a result.

Djokovic on his own part has attributed his loss to lack of rhythm following the water bottle incident.

Meanwhile, Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka cruised into the last 16 of the Rome Open on Sunday with a straight-sets victory over Dayana Yastremska, 6-4, 6-2.
