A Nigerian graduate from Ajayi Crowther University identified as Olutimain Ilenre, stated the reasons why he burnt his original certificates, which includes; his Primary School Certificate, Secondary School Certificate, JAMB Certificate, Bachelor of Arts, and NYSC Certificate.

In a video trending on social media on Monday 11th November 2023, the saddened graduate of History and International Studies took this decision due to lack of job and how the present condition of the country has rendered his certificates useless.

He said even if I travel out of this country, the certificates are not useful to me. “To get certificate in this country is like a waste of time,” he added.

“I have not been able to sleep well since last week, when I remembered that all the jobs I have done for the past 13 years does not require my certificates.”

“I finished school in 2010 and did my NYSC in 2010/2011, till date, I have not used these certificates to get a job,” Ilenre further added.

He encouraged that people should learn handwork in this present country’s reality, and parents should empower their children to learn handwork and trade.
