Taraba: Ex-Student Stabs Teacher to Death.

The Taraba State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the death of a secondary school teacher at Government Model School, Jalingo, Taraba on Wednesday, 8th November 2023.

Abdullahi Usman, Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that the deceased was attacked in a tricycle following an argument with the student.

Usman revealed that, “A former student conspired with his friends to stab his teacher, who was inside a Keke NAPEP. They got into an argument with the teacher and stabbed him in the course of the argument. He was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Jalingo while taken for treatment.

Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State said in a statement presented by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Mr. Emmanuel Bello that bans be placed on weapons like; machetes, daggers, and knives in Jalingo. While mourning the sad death of the teacher.

He directed proper investigation be carried out to avoid such incident from reoccurring.

Dr. Augustina Godwin, the Commissioner of Education, said, “The security of staff and students of Science School Jalingo, and other schools have been a source for us at the Ministry of Education.”

“We need armed and unarmed security agents such as; Civil Defence/ Peace Corps in our schools more than ever, especially around Jalingo,” she added.
