Fraud Investigation in Enugu, Colleges Not Exempted

By

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has established a seven-member investigating committee to investigate the State College of Education (Technical) operations.

On Friday, 27 October 2023, the governor’s media office released a statement stating that the committee’s mandate includes serious claims of mismanagement and dishonest administrative practices in the Institute and its Management Governing Council.

Another task assigned to members is Investigating the purported scam involving Bluetag Technologies, a financial company hired to collect fees for the College with outstanding debts of over N84 million.

It was stated that the additional mandate of the members is “To verify the authenticity of the purportedly unfair hiring procedure and investigate the ensuing rise in the college’s monthly subsidy, and offer suggestions based on their research concerning the suitable steps and remedies to tackle the concerns brought forth in a plea to the government.”

The statement claims that the committee was officially inaugurated at Government House on Thursday by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, representing the governor.

Along with Prof. Obiamaka Egbo, Reverend Father Ikechukwu Ani, Dr. Emma Onyeabor, Edmund Ngene, Larry Oguego, and Commissioner for Education Prof. Ndubueze Mbah served as the committee’s chairman and secretary, respectively. We pushed them to do well and offered pertinent advice.

“We hope that committee members will apply their experiences to this assignment and provide the governor with appropriate recommendations so that our teaching, learning process, and model in Enugu will be of the highest caliber.

He said the committee’s report must be turned in within two weeks and promised that they would work tirelessly to submit their report by the deadline and would not fail the state.
