The Senate, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, confirmed the nomination of Olayemi Cardoso as the substantive Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Senate also confirmed the nomination of four Deputy Governors to steer the operations of the national bank.

Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello are the four Deputies confirmed after being screened by the Senate.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made this known at its plenary on Tuesday in Abuja urging them to continue the progressive work of President Tinubu-led administration.

Olayemi Michael “Yemi” Cardoso is a Nigerian banker, chartered stockbroker, and public policy-maker.

He served as the former chairman of Citibank Nigeria and was the Commissioner for the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.
