The Executive of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has directed the Police to conduct a thorough investigation into attack on Saya-Saya village in Ikara Local Government Area of the state, in which seven worshippers in a mosque were brutally killed while observing the Friday sunset prayer.

Mohammed Lawal Shehu, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, released the statement on Sunday 3rd September, 2023 from the state’s government house popularly known as Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.
Uba Sani, while describing the “killing as wicked and barbaric”, promised that the government would do everything possible within its power to restore total peace in all parts of the state.

He said, “We understand the concerns and anxieties of the residents of Ikara, in particular, and Kaduna State, in general. Your safety and security are our top priorities, and we want to reassure you that we are working tirelessly to maintain peace and stability.

“We encourage the public to remain calm and vigilant during this period. We also call upon all residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and provide any relevant information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.”

The statement read in part, “Some bandits, on Friday night, had invaded the village when Muslim worshippers were observing the Isha’i (Sunset) prayers in a local mosque in the area.

The bandits reportedly gunned down the vigilante leader, the Imam leading the prayer, and three other worshippers, before killing two other residents in another location in the area”.
