Reps Members to get N54bn for Constituencies Development

The Members of Nigerian House of Representatives that constitute the 10th Assembly will get a total sum of fifty-four billion naira (N54bn) for individual constituency projects with each member given N150m.
This constituency allowances forms part of the few privileges for these lawmakers to directly give back to their electorates in a way of positively impacting their various constituencies.
The constituency intervention projects refers to developmental projects situated in the constituencies of members of the State Houses of Assembly, Members of the House of Representatives or Senators which falls under the budgets of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
These projects, when completed often have nomenclatures of the lawmakers with credit for implementation.
However, secrecy of salaries and allowances of lawmakers have always been the bone of contention by the public.
It was disclosed that each House of Reps member got N100m, while each lawmaker in the Red Chamber got N200m for constituency projects in the 9th Assembly.
The ‘Renewed Hope’ of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, saw an increment of N50m to the constituency allowance of the lawmakers.
