A seven-storey building under construction has collapsed in Banana Island, Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

NewsBreakers gathered that the incident happened on Wednesday around past 3 pm.

In a video trending online, it was observed that the building caved in when some of the construction workers were on site.

Some of them were however injured as a result of the collapse.

The spokesperson for the Lagos Fire Service and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiri, confirmed the incident.

He said, “We got a call around 3:58 pm. We are currently trying to ascertain the claim that no one was under the rubble.”

Also in a statement, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA said workers are trapped in the building and its officials are mobilising the response team to rescue the trapped victims.
