Election: Oyo State Declares Half day Holiday on Friday

Oyo State government has declared a half day at work on Friday for workers under the employee of the state in lieu of the Governorship and House Assembly election scheduled for Saturday,18th March,2023.

The decision was made known today, Thursday,March 16th, 2023 by a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary ,Taiwo Adisa.

This was in a bid to ensure that every member of the state who might wish to travel to perform their civic responsibility had the opportunity to.

According to the circular, all non essential workers are to close by 12pm on Friday. The governor then encouraged members of the state to not hold back in performing their Civic Responsibility on Saturday,18th March,2023

The Secretary quoting the Circular from the governor said “Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in his commitment to ensuring participation of Public and Civil Servants in the state in the upcoming Governorship and House of Assembly election, has graciously approved the declaration of half day at work on Friday, 17th March 2023″

“This approval of a half day at work will enable public and civil servants, who may wish to travel to perform their civic responsibilities, the opportunity to do so.

“Flowing from the above, government offices are to close by 12 noon, on Friday, 17th March 2023, while staff covering essential services are expected to remain at their duty posts

Public and civil servants in the state are enjoined to go out on Saturday, 18th March 2023, to perform their civic responsibilities.”
