Galaxies Cancel Friendly Match To Focus On Nations Championship
By
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the friendly match between Black Galaxies, formerly known as Black Stars, and FC Samartex has been cancelled.
The GFA made the announcement on their Twitter handle.
According to the body, the decision to cancel the friendly match is to enable them prepare hard for the second leg clash of their final 2023 African Nations Championship qualifier against Nigeria on Saturday.
Ghana currently hold a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and will hope to get the job done when they travel to Nigeria for the second leg.
The Black Galaxies will travel to Abuja on Friday ahead of the return leg of the CHAN qualifier.
The Galaxies were initially scheduled to face the newly promoted Ghana Premier League side at the Cape Coast stadium on Thursday.
Should the Super Eagles fail to overturn the result in Abuja, it would be the second time in six months that Ghana would stop Nigeria from taking part in major football competitions after the Black Galaxies denied the Super Eagles a chance to participate at the Qatar 2022 World Cup earlier this year.
Next year’s edition of the CHAN tournament holds in Algeria.
