Gunmen Shoot Rivers’ Bolt Driver, Snatch Car

By

Gunmen suspected to be car snatchers have shot an E-hailing car driver and reportedly snatched his vehicle at the Rumuokalabo area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Monday, October 23, 2023.

This came barely 48 hours after the state Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, paraded five suspected car snatchers arrested in different parts of the state, some of whom dispossessed Bolt drivers of their vehicles.

An eyewitness said he was walking towards the D/Line area of the metropolis and suddenly heard voices in a vehicle as if people were fighting.

The anonymous source said the incident occurred at about 10:12 p.m. at Rumuokalagbor on Monday, October 23.

He added, “On a closer look, I saw that two men inside a red Spider car, one in front and another behind were dragging with the driver and punching him on his face.

“Next thing I heard gunshots and they zoomed off with the car. So, I ran backwards and saw that the driver had been shot and pushed out of the vehicle. So, I and other people came around and saw that it was a Bolt driver who was saying they had shot him on the leg and taken his car.

“He was bleeding and there was blood all over him. So, he was rushed to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital for treatment.”
