The Ondo State Police Command on Saturday, September 30, 2023, said it had rescued eight out of 25 people who were kidnapped on Friday, 29th September 2023. 

The twenty-five victims are members of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Igan, Akure, Ondo State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami said, “Yesterday afternoon, the Police were informed that a church bus with the inscription CAC was abandoned around Elegbeka area and there are suspicions that the passengers in the vehicle were kidnapped.

“The Police Anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims and arrest all involved in the crime”.

“The vehicle conveying the kidnapped members who are choir members were seen abandoned by the roadside”.

Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that eight of the victims were rescued today while efforts to rescue the rest of the victims is ongoing.
