Gunmen Abduct Eight, kill Three in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed an attack by suspected bandits that resulted in the death of three persons, others injured with eight persons abducted in the Soro community, Binji Local Government Area of the state on Monday 2nd October, 2023.
The Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmad Rufai, disclosed that “some gunmen suspected to be bandits launched an attack on the Soro community but men of the Command with the support of military operatives swiftly moved in and successfully repelled the attack”.

ASP Rufai said, “the bandits out of frustration, set some houses on fire as a result of which three of the residents lost their lives while a few others sustained various degrees of injuries in the village.The Gunmen successfully abducted several other persons”.
“Eight people, who are mostly women were abducted and carried away on motorcycle by the bandits”.
However, the Command learned that some vigilante groups carried out a reprisal attack on a Fulani community which led to the swift intervention of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ali Kaigama, to initiate a dialogue among the residents of the affected areas.
