Seven of the other victims were released after reportedly paying 800 million Naira ransom. The remaining 43 victims were asked to pay N100 million to facilitate their release.
In the video released, the victims were crying as they were being flogged by the terrorist. One of the male victims said except for the negligence of the Federal Government in paying up the demanded ransom, the terrorists don’t intend to keep them, hostage, for more than a week. The victim, therefore, called on the international community and the United Nations to come to their rescue.
Also in the video, one of the terrorists swore to abduct the President, rtd. Major General Muhammadu Buhari; Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai and other prominent Nigerians destabilise the country if their demands were not met.
The terrorists also threatened to kill and sell off some of the remaining Kaduna-Abuja train passengers in their custody.
He said, “This is our message to the government of Nigeria and just as you have seen these people here, by God’s grace, you will see your leaders; your senators and governors will come before us. These you are seeing here, we will keep some as our slaves and sell them off just as our Imam told you in the past.
“Just like the Chibok girls that were sold off, we will equally sell these as slaves. If you don’t keep to our demands, we will kill the ones we need to kill and sell the remaining. By God’s grace, El-Rufai, Buhari, we will bring you here.”
