The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has made a public demand urging all her customers to update their prepaid meters before the end of November 2024 on Tuesday, 23rd August, 2023.

The power regulatory body added that the update will be at no cost and would not in any way affect the current prepaid units of its users.

NERC further advised users to contact their Distribution Companies for more information as regards the upcoming update.

“If you have a prepaid meter, it may be time for an update. From November 2024, you may not be able to recharge your meter. However, updating is easy and free. Distribution Companies (DisCos) shall commence issuance of two free Key Change Tokens (KCTs) which will update your meter; the statement read via its X handle.

“The update will not affect the units in your meter nor will it make your meter run faster than usual. Contact your DisCo for more information.”
