Prof. Jeff G. Doki Presents Unijos 107th Inaugural Lecture

The University of Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday July 25th, 2023 witnessed her 107th inaugural lecture with the theme “Poetry and Global Peace”.

Professor Jeff Godwin Doki of the Department of English who is also the Head of the Department elaborately links the power of art as in poetry, drama, prose, music, painting etc as a wide nexus that has no space for disparity of culture nor religion.

He opines that ” the sport of football as an art, act, science, play vital role in uniting the world because no one remembers his religion when celebrating a goal scored by the team he supports”.

The event was gracefully attended by the Management of the University, Senate members and more than forty professors, led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Joash Amupitan SAN, who represented the Vice Chancellor Prof. Tanko Ishaya were all fully robed on their academic gowns.

Ice FM Unijos, NTA, PRTVC etc were few among many media houses present to capture the event.

The song titled “Heaven is Here on Earth” by Tracy Chapman was use to buttress a point on the need to live in peace and harmony to enjoy the best that the earth holds for humanity; the song spurred emotions and reaction of reasoning.

Prof. Doki received gifts and appreciated everyone for showing up on his day.
He said “my joy knows no boundary, I’m honored by you all today… I love you all, thank you”.
