Tinubu Mourn Victims of Tragic Boat Accident

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expresses shock and sense of sadness over the boat accident that occurred in Kwara State which led to the death of at least 100 people on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. 

This sad event which occurred on 12th June as the nation celebrates its Democracy Day throws not only the State into mourning but the country at large.

Tinubu directed the relevant authorities to “unravel the immediate and remote causes” of the accident and to ensure provision of immediate relief materials and assistance to the survivors and families of lost victims.

His condolence message as stated in a statement that was signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information, titled ‘President Tinubu Mourns Victims of Kwara Boat Accident, Orders a Thorough Investigation.’

The boat accident killed over 100 persons who were wedding guests at Egbu village in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.

The President said that he is deeply saddened by the news of the tragic boat accident that claimed the lives of our people in Kwara State.

“That the victims were guests at a wedding ceremony made the unfortunate accident more painful.
