Anthony Joshua finally bounced back to winning ways after defeating Jermaine Franklin in a 12 round gruelling Heavyweight fight at the O2 Arena on April 01, 2023 in London, England. This is his first fight after Usyk, the Ukrainian won him in August, 2022.

The Nigerian 2023 general election president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has publicly praised the victory of Nigerian-born heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, over his win against Jermaine Franklin by ascribing the win as a result of determination and perseverance.

Bola Tinubu tweeted on Sunday that the country is proud of the boxer. “Congratulations Champ! @AnthonyJoshua. Determination and perseverance always pay off. Nigeria is proud of you!”

Anthony put unwavering determination in each round to gain 118-111, 117-111 and 117-111 on the cards before being declared winner in the O2 Arena boxing ring in London.

Also, President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed his joy for seeing Joshua trailing back to his winning ways after suffering some series of defeats by hailing Joshua and commending the triumph over Jermaine Franklin.

The Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari said the Nigeria-born boxer’s resilient spirit was commendable in a statement late Saturday 1st April, 2023.

He applauded Anthony Joshua for his unwavering courage and discipline, on and off the ring and also prayed that his success and professed this win to be a stepping stone to one of the greatest comebacks in his boxing career/history after the former world heavyweight champion, got back to winning ways on Saturday night at the 02 Arena in London with a unanimous decision win over Franklin.
