APC Northern Group Demands Deputy Senate Presidency
By
The tussle for other political positions has not ended even after the general election which saw the All Progressive Congress (APC) declared winner with Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the flag bearer.

The general northern coalition group of the party is demanding the positioning of the deputy senate presidency to the north central region.
The coming of the members of All Progressives Congress, APC Northern Forums in Nigeria has requested that the National Working Committee of the party should kindly consider the North-Central geopolitical zone for the position of the Deputy President of the incoming 10th National Assembly.
The groups buttress their concern on the fact that since the Senate and Deputy Senate President seats will definitely be between the North and the South region, the North-Central geo-political zone should best be considered for the position because it stand the better chance to produce a presiding officer of the Red Chamber.
This appeal was made through Habibu Salau, the Coordinator of the Coalition, in a statement made in Abuja on Monday, April 3, 2023.
He said “Senator Sani Musa, who is a ranking senator from the North-Central geopolitical zone, is eminently qualified to be elected either as the Senate President or Deputy”
“If the leadership of the All Progressives Congress decided to zone the position to the South, the Deputy Senate President should automatically go to the North-Central.
“In fairness, the North-Central deserves to produce the next Senate President or Deputy because of the impressive performance of the APC in the zone in the last election going by the numbers of APC senators produced from different geopolitical zones.
“For instance, the South-West produced 15 out of 18; South-South had 7 out of 18; South-East with 6 out of 15; North-Central got 10 out of 19; North-East,9 out of 18 and North-West,8 out of 21.”
It is eminently clear that the north central geo-political zone produce the highest number of senators to be in the red chamber with 10 only after South-West that got 15 out 18 contested senatorial seats which will automatically see the Senate Presidency willed to that region.
