The Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has renamed the First Technical University.

He renamed the institution after the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the former Governor of Oyo State to immortalize him.

Governor Makinde, who made the announcement at the second Convocation of the First Technical University, this Friday.

He explained that the change of name was in honour of the contributions of the former Governor to the establishment of the Technical University of Oyo State.

The First Technical University is the Nigeria’s Premier Technical University, grounded in entrepreneurial practices, innovations and sustainability.

The University was established by the Oyo State Government to bridge the skill gap between competences of university graduates and industry requirements through a blend of theory, practical and hands-on experiences.

The University is one of the tertiary educational institutions owned by Oyo State Government.

The University, which is located in Ibadan, was established during the tenure of the immediate past governor, late Abiola Ajimobi.
