e an update on the victims of the Lagos Bus-Train accident in a statement late Wednesday.
Abayomi disclosed that the current fatality figure from the accident remains six which include two (2) at the site of the accident and four (4) at Lagos State Teaching Hospital ( LASUTH )during resuscitation.
He went further to give a breakdown of the of the accident and casualties admitted in five hospitals of the state.
A breakdown of the figure showed that 102 passengers were involved in the accident on the day of the accident.
Break down of Location after Triage from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) incudes:
LASUTH – 71
General Hospital (GH), LAGOS – 4
GH, Orile-Agege –10
GH, Gbagada – 6
Tollgate Trauma Center – 5
“Death – 6 ( 2 at the site of the accident and 4 at LASUTH during resuscitation). The total number of patients on admission as of today Wednesday 15th March 2023 (Day7) – 30,” he said,
“The total number of passengers discharged as of today Wednesday 15th March 2023 (Day 7) – 66,” the commissioner added.
Recall that a Lagos State Government staff bus carrying civil servants from Isolo to Alausa collided with a train at PWD Bus-Stop, along Agege Motor Road.
There were 85 passengers on board in the bus and seventeen (17) persons associated with the accident, making 102 persons involved.
The victims of the accident which happened at around 7.30 a.m. on March 9 were mobilized to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment.
Survivors with varying degrees of injuries and life-threatening conditions were admitted and treated at LASUTH,the teaching hospital of the state.
Twenty five (25) patients with moderate injuries were later referred to three general hospitals and the Trauma Center, Tollgate, for further treatment and to reduce congestion LASUTH.
