After more than a year of anticipation, Prince Harry has disclosed a title and release date for his memoir. The book which will be released on January 10, 2023 is titled Spare.
“We are excited to announce the remarkably personal and emotionally powerful story of Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex,” Penguin Random House CEO, Markus Dohle, said in a press release.
The book will discuss how he and his brother, Prince William, responded to the death of their mother, Princess Diana, twenty five years ago and how he has lived on since then.
“With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.
“He shares a remarkably moving personal journey from trauma to healing, one that speaks to the power of love and will inspire and encourage millions of people around the world,” the book publisher said.
Spare will be published simultaneously in Spanish with the subtitle In the Shadow, and will ultimately be released in 16 languages.
The book will be released almost exactly four months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III to the throne.
On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that Harry was having second thoughts about its contents after the death of his grandmother.
Harry previously announced that he would donate a portion of the proceeds from the book to charity.
Recall that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, had taken the monarchy aback by announcing they were quitting royal duties and moving to the United States in early 2020.
