President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his profound happiness over the release of the remaining 23 kidnapped train passengers held in captivity by terrorists since March.
While reacting to the news of the safe release of the hostages, the President in a statement said the nation owed the military and all other security and intelligence agencies a great sense of gratitude for their successful conduct.
“This country’s Armed Forces are as good as any. Given needed support and encouragement as we have been doing, there is no task that they cannot accomplish. I commend them for this remarkable outcome,” the President said.
Buhari also congratulated the victims and their families for having them back alive, adding that the relief that comes to the nation arising from the closure of the six-month saga must be sustained at all times.
“I congratulate and rejoice with the families of the victims for having them back alive.
“I have made it very clear to our security and intelligence agencies that the ongoing momentum being experienced in the fight against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping must be sustained at all times, across the country. We must continue to work to secure every inch of our land,” he noted.
