Queen Elizabeth’s Coffin Arrives In Edinburgh

By

Queen Elizabeth’s coffin has finally arrived in Edinburgh on Sunday after a six-hour journey from her summer home in the Scottish Highlands.

Her coffin was moved from Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire to her official residence of Holyroodhouse Palace in Edinburgh.

Tens of thousands of mourners lined the streets of Edinburgh as the procession took place to pay tributes to her.

Many were in somber silence, some applauding and others in tears.

The state funeral for the world’s longest-standing monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, will take place at 3.30 PM on September 19 at Westminster Abbey in London.

Details regarding the 96-year-old queen’s funeral will be released later, but organisers described the ceremony as a fitting farewell to one of the defining figures of all times.

Since her death on Thursday, the Queen’s coffin which is draped with the Royal Standard of Scotland and topped by a wreath of flowers, has remained at rest in Balmoral so that estate workers could say their last goodbyes.
