Two Residents Injured As Bridge Collapses In Osun

Two residents were reported to have been injured when a bridge collapsed around Oke Osun, Iragbiji, in the Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.
It was garnered that the victims including a motorcyclist and his passenger were plying the bridge to navigate their destination in the state when the bridge suddenly collapsed.
As the bridge crumbled, the motorcyclist and his passenger were buried in the rubble.
An eye witness, Adeosun narrated that the incident attracted many residents of the community to the scene. They all rallied round and rushed the two victims to the hospital.
“Leaders of the community later cordoned off the bridge with wooden pallets. The motorcycle of the victim was later lifted from the ditch”, he said.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident.
She said no casualty was recorded due to the incident.
“The said bridge collapsed at the time when a commercial motorcyclist and a female passenger were on the bridge, the people around rendered help and the woman was rescued along with the motorcyclist.
“No one died at the scene, but the two victims were seriously injured, the bone of the woman’s leg got broken while the bike man was severely cut.”
She assured that the victims are presently receiving adequate treatment, adding that the collapsed area has been demarcated.
